Highly Sensitive Children

Elaine Aron, author of The Highly Sensitive Person, has released The Highly Sensitive Child to address the parenting needs of this group of children who represent approximately 20% of all children. Children exhibiting heightened intuitive abilities and/or exceptional spiritual maturity could be called Highly Sensitive Children, the 1-2% of the total.  Read about her new book in this article. "I have two children, aged five and seven. Both have shown unusual abilities and dispositions from an early age. My daughter is extremely sensitive, physically and emotionally; has many allergies and, while extremely bright is borderline autistic; reads my mind with surprising ease, and is aware of presences and energies that I do not begin to understand. b) get easily aroused, disturbed, tired, or affected by groups or high-stimulation?

a) have unaltered behaviour in old buildings, hospitals, cemeteries, funeral homes etc.?
b) have atypical emotional responses in new environments?

d) see or feel the presence of ghosts or the departed?

a) get surprised by common things/experiences?
b) get a sense of or feel disturbed when something is "up"?

c) an exceptional ability and maturity with languages and/or communication?
d) create their own languages, and/or read voraciously years beyond their age, and/or write years beyond their age, and c)

Question 9: If your child has exceptional

qualities, then 1 point for each attribute.

Question 10: If they are exceptionally

  • strong-willed

(most or all of the above) then 4 points total.

Question 11: If they ever communicate with angels or spirits, or see dark spirits or other frightening paranormal phenomenon in dreams or otherwise, then 4 points. 

Question 12: If you personally (the parent) can answer yes or d) to most of these questions about your childhood, then add 4 points.

 

Scoring: 1 point for a), 2 for B), 3 for c), and 4 for d), plus the questions below those for a possible total of 48.

0-8: Congratulations, your child will have a life of understandable experiences! Your child is not psychic and does not have above average intuition or psychic sensitivity. It is also likely you or the child's other parent is not particularly sensitive or intuitive either.

9-33: Your child is definitely sensitive, possibly psychic, especially if you racked up the most points on question 11. Check out the Learning Resources or the Intuitive Kids Workshop.

33-37: Your child is likely psychic, and certainly psychic if you got full points on question 11. They need support and education for their gift. See Intuitive Kids Workshop.

38-49 points: Your child is psychic and they need support in their considerable gift.  It is likely that you or the child's other parent are intuitive or maybe psychic and have either repressed it or know it.
